How to import Pocket export into Notion
Convert the export to a Notion-ready CSV, then use Notion’s built-in CSV import. Drop your Pocket file (CSV, or ril_export.html from older exports) into the free Pocket to Notion converter. It runs in your browser and uploads nothing. Then in Notion choose Settings → Import → CSV. Each saved link becomes a database page with Title, URL, Tags, Saved date and Status. Notion’s CSV import brings in links, not the article text.

Step by step: Pocket export to Notion database
- Find your Pocket export. Use the file you downloaded from Pocket: a CSV file, or ril_export.html from older exports. If it came as a .zip, unzip it first.
- Convert it for Notion. Drop the file into the free Pocket to Notion converter at fullclip.roledawn.com/tools/pocket-to-notion. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Download the Notion CSV.
- Import the CSV into Notion. In Notion, go to Settings → Import → CSV, or type /csv on a page, and upload the file. Each saved link becomes a page in a new database.
- Set property types. Change Tags to Multi-select (comma-separated values become separate tags), Saved date to Date and Status to Select if Notion imported them as text.
- Save full articles going forward. The import brings in links, not article text. To keep an article’s full text and images in Notion, open it and save it with Fullclip, a Chrome web clipper for Notion.
Why convert the Pocket file first?
Notion’s CSV import turns each row into a page and each column into a property (Notion help). Pocket’s CSV has the columns title, url, time_added, tags and status, but time_added is a Unix timestamp and tags are joined with a vertical bar. The converter rewrites them for Notion:
| In the Pocket export | In the Notion CSV |
|---|---|
| title | Title |
| url | URL |
| tags (reading|ai) | Tags (reading, ai), ready for Multi-select |
| time_added (1700000000) | Saved date (November 14, 2023 10:13 PM) |
| status (unread / archive) | Status (Unread / Archived) |
It also removes duplicate URLs and splits very large libraries into files under Notion’s 5 MB Free-plan limit. You get a Markdown list of the same links too, handy for Obsidian or a plain notes file.
What about the full articles?
A CSV holds links and properties, so Notion’s import can’t recreate the articles you saved. If you want the text, images, tables and code blocks inside Notion, save each article you care about with Fullclip, a Chrome web clipper for Notion: open the page, press Alt+Shift+S, and the full article lands in the same database as native Notion blocks. Frequently asked questions
Can I import the Pocket CSV into Notion without converting it?
Notion will import it, but Pocket stores the save date as a Unix timestamp (a number such as 1700000000) and separates tags with a vertical bar, so you get a number column and one long tag per row. Pocket’s HTML export imports as a single page of links rather than a database. Converting first gives you readable dates, separate tags and a Status column.
Can I still export my data from Pocket?
No. Mozilla shut Pocket down on July 8, 2025 and said users could export until October 8, 2025, after which data would be permanently deleted (Mozilla). If you exported before then, your file still works with the steps above.
Does the Notion import include the full article text?
No. Notion’s CSV import creates one page per row with the row’s values as properties. Your links, titles, tags and dates arrive; the articles do not. Fullclip saves the full article to Notion when you open it and press Alt+Shift+S.
What is the file size limit for Notion CSV import?
5 MB per file on Notion’s Free plan and 50 MB on paid plans (Notion help). The converter splits large libraries into parts under the Free-plan limit.
How do I import an Instapaper export into Notion?
The same way. Export the CSV from Instapaper (Instapaper docs), drop it into the converter and import the result. Instapaper folders other than Unread and Archive become tags. More detail: Instapaper to Notion.
Will importing twice create duplicates?
Yes. Notion says imports add rows and don’t update existing ones. The converter removes duplicate URLs inside one file; merge each file into Notion once.
